Want the theatrical equivalent of spiked egg nog as Christmas approaches this week? Then Music City Theatre Company‘s presentation of Jeff Goode‘s “The Eight: Reindeer Monologues” Monday and Tuesday at Darkhorse Theater should go down quite well.
The show features eight reindeer dishing about the “real” Santa: All those rumors you’ve heard about him and the elves? About Rudolph’s little secret? About Vixen’s story that was leaked to the press? All true. Yes, the reindeer finally come clean and they don’t hold back!
Music City Theatre Company’s cast for this mature-audiences-only play includes Cat Arnold, David Arnold, Bradley Moore, Taylor Novak, Austin Olive, Jenna Pryor, Eric Ventress and Jennifer Whitcomb-Oliva. This pay-what-you-will show is a fundraiser for the troupe with all proceeds going to fund its work but those bringing an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys For Tots will receive a free ticket to company’s next production, 4000 Miles by Amy Herzog, which is scheduled for April 1-9.
“The Eight: Reindeer Monologues” is the group’s eleventh production. Moore, who directs the show as well as appearing in its cast, founded the company in 2008 and its mission is “to provide the Nashville community with thought-provoking, socially relevant work with a strong vision.” That statement has been reality with such productions as their terrific 2013 take on David Ives’ “Venus In Fur.”
